The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI)

PROGRAM Revitalization & INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) is a quality improvement organization is devoted to advancing and sustaining better health and healthcare outcomes worldwide. CVH Consulting worked with senior leadership at IHI to develop an education and training strategy for the future. Christie created a process and guidelines for program directors to use as they redesign and update their programs to offer blended learning course offerings. She also designed and facilitated professional development training for staff and faculty on virtual training best practices, adult learning theories, and learning engagement.


New York State Department of Health & United Way of Dutchess-Orange Region

Training Consultant and Subject Matter Expert

The United Way of Dutchess-Orange Region and CVH Consulting, LLC received funding to provide statewide training for community-based organizations on health equity and the 10 Essential Public Health Services. Christie was the lead subject matter expert responsible for developing session content and additional speaker recruitment. She recruited speakers from all over the state, including folks from a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center, a food bank, and a farm worker project. Christie understands the importance of hearing from diverse voices with rural and urban experiences. Three workshops will be facilitated in total, two live-virtual and one asynchronous.


Hemophilia Federation of America

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN

The Hemophilia Federation of America (HFA) provides educational and training sessions to people living with bleeding disorders nationwide. CVH Consulting developed over fifteen programs and workshops for the organization, which resulted in hundreds of people receiving psychosocial and chronic disease management education. Christie created facilitation guides for speakers, including providers, social workers, and non-profit leaders on best training practices. She spoke at their national meetings for three years and sat on the planning committee.


Impact Education

Training Expertise and MAterial Development

Impact Education offers continuing education (CE) to enhance patient outcomes through provider education. CVH worked with Impact on several projects for a national health organization. She researched and developed a patient toolkit to help manage mental health and psychosocial needs, along with six complimentary webinars. Christie also researched and developed a series of presentations and a roundtable for providers on the social determinants of health and health equity.


National Environmental Health Association

PUBLIC HEALTH CURRICULUM DESIGN

The National Environmental Health Association provided risk communication training for the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Health staff. In collaboration with a subject matter expert, Christie developed and facilitated role-plays to provide skills-based practice for local governmental environmental health professionals. Participants engaged in difficult conversations and reflected on content learned in a non-threatening environment through role-playing. Staff are now prepared to handle challenging events and can better communicate information during a crisis.
